Obituary

Aged Resident

Called Beyond

Dores E. Brush Answers Call

Deceased was Son of Prominent Pioneer Family and Had

Lived in Nemaha County 60 years. Life Was One of

Constructive Activity and Usefulness.

Dores L. Brush passed away at his home in Auburn, Sunday,

August 7, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 3 days.

Mr. Brush, who was born at Fairfax, Vermont, July 4, 1855,

was a son of the late Major Joseph Brush and his wife, Clara.

The father, who passed away August 13, 1911 at the age of

90 years, was one of the strong pioneer characters, having come

to Nemaha county in 1865 at the close of the Civil war.

Dores Brush had been a resident of Nemaha county about 60

years and had made his home in Auburn for the past 14 years. He

inherited the sturdy traits and characteristics of pioneer parents and

contributed much to the development of the community in which so

many of the years of his life were spent. He was in every way an

industrious man and a good citizen. He devoted most of his active

years to farming and also found time and opportunity to take an

interest in community affairs. He will be remembered by the older

people as a good friend and neighbor and one who was always

held in high regard.

He was married to Anna L. McConnell on January 18, 1924, at

Hiawatha, Kansas.

Mr. Brush was the oldest of 11 children and of this family only three

survive. These include his sisters, Mrs. Thomas Holloway of

Auburn and Mrs. Ana Cafferty of Omaha, and his brother,

Charles Brush of Auburn. He is also survived by numerous

nephews and nieces.

Services were held at the Armstrong funeral home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Reverend T. V. Hubbell, and with a large number of friends present. The floral tributes were

numerous and beautiful.

Mrs. Opal Conner and Miss Lela Argabright sang

"Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages."

Miss Evelyn Hacker was at the piano.

Pallbearers were Robert Muse, Bert Muse, William Ball, Fred Nelson, Harry Nelson and George Burdette.

Burial was in London cemetery.
