Obituary

William D. Bohling

William Dietrich Bohling was born December 12, 1895, five miles

west of Auburn, the son of Herman Bohling and his

wife Ann, nee Rohrs. He was baptized December 26, 1895 and

was confirmed April 3, 1910 by the late Rev. Theodore Streng at

St. Paul's Lutheran church (Hickory Grove) which he faithfully

attended his entire life and of which he was a member

of the brotherhood.

On December 14, 1916 he was united in marriage to Miss

Augusta Rogge by the Rev. Theodore Streng. They made

their home in the Rohrs community where they were engaged

in farming and also the dairy business for a number of years.
Their marriage was blessed with four daughters, Freida,

Mrs. Lawrence Stahl, Jr., Janyce, Mrs. Richard Heywood,

Myrna and Ardis.

On June 19, 1955 he suffered a stroke from which he apparently

recovered. He was an industrious farmer until forced to retire

because of ill health in March of 1956, when they purchased a

home in Auburn. He had a second stroke on April 6, 1958 which

was more severe and one again on October 18, when he was called

to his heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his parents,

a brother, Emil, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Bohling.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Augusta; four daughters;

Frieda, Janyce, Myrna and Ardis; two sons-in-law, Lawrence Stahl, Jr.,

and Richard Heywood; one granddaughter, Debra Leigh Heywood;

brothers and sisters, Herman C. Bohling of Johnson, Ernest Bohling

of Auburn, Christine Lunzmann of Auburn, John Bohling of Auburn,

Anna Fintel of Auburn, Henry Rabe of California and Helen

Kienker of Johnson. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and a

host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 21 at the St.

Paul (Hickory Grove) Lutheran church at 2:00 p.m., conducted

by Rev. H. A. Koim.

Pallbearers were Ervin Fintel, Emil Bohling, Richard Bohling,

Elmer Bohling, LaVerne Bohling and Victor Lunzmann.

Two songs "Oh Take My Hand Dear Father" and "Abide With Me"

were sung by the church choir accompanies by Mrs. Alvin Remmers.

Assisting with the flowers were Mrs. George Kregio and

Mrs. Ervin Lange.

Interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Casey's were

in charge of funeral arrangements.
