Esther May (Hoy) Fey Passed Away
After a long useful and busy life, extending over 81 years, Mother Esther Fey passed away Sunday morning at her late farm home north of this city. The funeral took place yesterday, the services being held in Grace church, Revs. Fuessle and Woodring officiating. Ten children - six sons and four daughters - besides a large number of relatives and friends were in attendance and attested their sympathy for the bereaved and their appreciation of the
sterling Christian character of the departed.
Esther Fey, nee Hoy, was born May 5, 1823, the daughter of Henry & Rebecca (Leymeister) Hoy, near Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, and died at the family homestead near Naperville, Illinois,
June 25, 1904, aged 81 years, 1 month and 21 days. In the year 1841 she was married to William Fey. For 51 years this couple lived happily together. The golden wedding anniversary was observed in 1891. The following year the husband and father
was called to his eternal reward at the age of 73. In 1854 the young couple moved from Pennsylvania to Illinois, locating for a brief time in the town of Naperville, later moving on a farm three miles north of the town where
for 49 years the family has resided. two of whom preceded father and mother to the spirit world. There remain to mourn the departed mother, six sons and four daughters, thirty-two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, five sisters and two brothers,
besides a large circle of friends. Mother Fey was a devoted Christian mother. She endeavored to raise her children in the fear of the Lord. The family altar was never forgotten; as a result the children are all professing Christians. May there be a happy reunion
by and by in the glory world. Rev. C. A. Fuessle, of the Salem church, assisted by Rev. E. S. Woodring
of Grace church, in the English language.
