Obituary

Miss Lucretia Smith, a Pioneer of Nemaha County, Nebraska, passed away at her home in Auburn early Wednesday morning, April 17^th, 1935.

Miss Smith was born in Brownsville, Nebraska, February 25, 1865. The youngest of five children of Peter and Eliza Smith. She came with the family to the homestead near Brock, in the spring of 1866. With the parents she moved to Auburn in 1891 where she tenderly cared for her feeble mother who died January 1^st, 1895. After the death of the aged father, April 3, 1912 her piano remained unused. She could not bear the music which brought back so many sad memories.

Miss Smith united with the Baptist church in Auburn. After that society disbanded a cordial welcome was given her at the Presbyterian Sunday school and all church services.

Hers was a lonely life. She held fast to tried and true friends, spoke evil of none, and there was no malice in her heart. She leaves an only brother, David who lives at

De Ridder, Louisiana. Also three nephews and four nieces.

Funeral services at Presbyterian Church Saturday, April 20 conducted by Rev. Douglas. Music by the church choir. Burial in the family lot in the Linden cemetery.
