Auburn Girl Weds Russell Eltiste in Lutheran Church Near Auburn
Miss Carolyn Louise Behrends, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Behrends of Auburn, became the bride of Russell Eltiste, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Eltiste of Tecumseh, in a double ring ceremony performed by Rev. Charles Piazza in the St. John’s (Stone) Church of Auburn. The church pews were decorated with pink bows and pew candles. Two baskets of pink gladioli trimmed in gold and white enhanced the altar. A candelabra accented with pink and white carnations was placed on the organ. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a beautiful taffeta gown with an A-line skirt accented with two vertical bands of lace. The high rise bodice was styled with full length bridal point sleeves cuffed in Chantilly lace. The Chantilly lace was repeated at the waistline jeweled with iridescent’s. A panel train banded in lace was caught at mid-back with a self fabric Dior bow. Her headpiece was a double crown of lace and pearls adorned with crystal. The waterfall illusion veil was elbow length. The bride carried a white Bible toped with two white orchids and stephanotis trimmed in pink and gold. Corla Behrends, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Brides matron was Mrs. George Hanssen. Miss Gloria Bohling and Miss Denise Rademacher of Johnson were the bridesmaids. Christine Durman of Elk Creek, niece of the groom, was the flower girl. The ring bearer was Thomas Durman of Elk Creek. Wayne Eltiste, brother of the groom, was best man. Other attendants were James Reed, Jay Lovitt and Robert McPherrin of Tecumseh. Ron Reemers and Rick Reemers of Auburn, Shelby Hendee of Beatrice and Lonnie Eltiste of Johnson were the ushers. R. W. Reemers of Auburn, friend of the bride, sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “The Wedding Prayer.” He was accompanied by Miss Joyce Behrends of Denver, Colorado, cousin of the bride. The candles were tapered by Craig Behrends, brother of the bride and Randal Rippe, cousin of the groom. For her daughters wedding, Mrs. Behrends chose a silver brocade dress and silver accessories. The groom’s mother wore a sleeveless gold rayon dress with brown accessories. A reception was held in the Tecumseh Community Building with 225 guests in attendance. The reception hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Reemers and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Eltiste. Mrs. Robert McPherrin, Mrs. Larry Bando and Mrs. Wayne Eltiste of Tecumseh and Mrs. Shelby Hendee of Beatrice were in charge of the gifts. Mrs. Daryl Striggow of Auburn, friend of the bride, presided over the guest book. The bride’s cake was cut by Mrs. Ervin Reemers and Mrs. Harlan Rademacher. Mrs. Kiel Eltiste cut the groom’s cake. Mrs. Enus Rippe of Johnson, aunt of the groom, poured the coffee. Punch was served by Miss Regina Dittmer of Tecumseh. Waitresses were Miss Margaret McPherrin of Tecumseh, Miss Susan Kiender, Miss Carin Pugh and Miss Delta Schneider of Johnson.
