Della Emma (Gobber) Oestmann

Della Emma Gobber, daughter of Dietrich and Wilhelmina (Kappelmann)
Gobber, was born on a farm near Diller, NE. February 19, 1906. She was one
of seven children born to this marriage.
When she was a small child the family moved to the Long Branch Church
area. She was baptized at the family home near Diller, Nebraska April 1,
1906, by Rev. Johannes Sohaff and was confirmed August 31, 1919 at St.
James (Long-Branch) Lutheran Church by Reverend E.F. Geyer.
She received her schooling at District 44 (Maple-Grove) Rural School.
February 20, 1930, she was married to Alvin F. Oestmann. They were married
at St. James Lutheran Church by Reverend E.F. Geyer. five children were
born to this marriage, one daughter dying at birth.
Most of their married life was spent on farms in the Martin Luther
neighborhood. In 1971, Alvin retired from active arming and they moved to
their present home in Johnson, Nebraska Mr. Oestmann died January 9, 1979.
Mrs. Oestmann had been a member of Martin Luther Church since 1930 and was
an active member of the ALCW as long as her health permitted. She was also
a member of the Senior Citizens Club at Johnson, Nebraska.
She had been in failing health the past two years. She entered the Nemaha
County Hospital on March 7 and was moved to the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha
on March 18. It was there that she passed away Sunday April 13, 1980,
having reached the age of 14 years, one month and twenty-five days.
In addition to her husband and infant daughter, she was preceded in death
by her parents, one brother and one sister.
She is survived by four children: Melvin and his wife, Patricia, of
Brownville, Nebraska. Elvera and her husband Ray Hietrbrink, of Papillion,
Nebraska Henry and his wife, Lillian, of North Bend, Nebraska and LaVern
and his wife, Sharon, of Auburn, Nebraska
Also by 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild; four brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Ed (Mary) Ottemann of Tecumseh, Nebraska Fred Gobber of Table Rock,
NE. Mrs. Emma Volker of the Tecumseh Care Center and Otto Gobber of Elk
Creek, NE. nieces and nephews; other relatives, and many friends.
Pallbearers: Ervin Gobber, Lloyd Volker, Arnold Gobber, Raymond Gobber,
Mervin Ottemann and Leonard Lunzmann.
Assisting with flowers were: Mrs. August Nolte and Mrs. Maynard Schneider.
Organist Mrs. Phyllis Davis.
Services were at Martin Luther Church and she was buried in the Martin
Luther Cemetery, Johnson, Nebraska.

Alvin F. Oestmann

Alvin
Frederick Oestmann, son of Henry and Emma (Bohling) Oestmann, was born
July 7, 1907 on a farm in the Hickory Grove community of Nemaha County,
NE. He was one of three children born to the marriage.
He was baptized July 2, 1907 by Reverend Theodore Streng, and was confirmed in
the Lutheran faith at Martin Luther Church, March 20, 1921 by Reverend
William Freuhling. He remained an active member of that church all of his
adult life.
Alvin's early years were spent in the Hickory Grove community. He attended
Roosevelt Rural school and later, when the family moved to the martin
Luther neighborhood, finished his schooling in a rural school near their
farm home.
February 20, 1930, he was married to Della Gobber at St. James Lutheran
Church, Five children were born to this marriage, one daughter dying at
birth.
Most of their married life was spent on farms in the Martin Luther
neighborhood. In 1971 Alvin retired from active farming and the moved to
their 0present home in Johnson, Nebraska
Alvin entered the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh on Tuesday, January
2, 1979, where he passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 1979, having reached
the age of 71 years, six months and two days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and the daughter who died at
birth.
Surviving are his wife, Della, of Johnson, his four children; Melvin and
his wife, Patricia, of Brownville, Elvera and her husband, Ray Heitbrin,
of Papillion, Nebraska, Henry and his wife Lillian, of North Bend,
Nebraska and LaVern and his wife, Sharon of Auburn, Nebraska
Also by thirteen grandchildren; one brother, Gustav Oestmann of Auburn;
one sister, Mrs. Albert (Alma) Conradt of Tecumseh; A number of nieces and
nephews; other relatives, and friends.
Pallbearers: David Kelly, Bill Koehler, Alvin Holthus, Lorraine Hahn,
Arnold Gobber, and Herman Stutheit.
Assisting with flowers: Mrs. R. H. Beckmann and Mrs. Wilbur Hahn.
Organist was Mrs. Bruce Davis.
Services were at Martin Luther Church. buried at Martin Luther Cemetery.
