Obituary Simeon Garfield Hoy
Simeon Garfield Hoy, was born September 28th, 1879, the only son of Joel and Sarah Strous Hoy, died at his home in Laurelville, o May 5th, 1952 aged 72 years, 7 months, and 7 days.
On November 11, 1900, he was married to Lillian Turner, and to them were born three daughters, Opal Miller of Lancaster, Leoca and Celesta Hoy at home.
As a young man, he joined the Laurelville WUB Church and in later years became a member of the Men's Bible Class of the E Church, and attended both faithfully as long as he was able to do so.
Simeon, who was a life long resident of Laurelville, worked for many years as a blacksmith, and later was an employee of the State Highway Dept. and of the village of Laurelville.
He was a kind father, husband and neighbor, and bore his suffering of the past year with quiet and uncomplaining endurance.
Besides his wife and daughters, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Lucretia Bottlemy of Walworth, Wisconsin, Mrs. Jeanette Hope of Corning, Ohio and Mrs. Mary Hiltbrunner of near Carroll, Ohio and three half-sisters; Mrs. Viola Donaldson and Mrs. Margaret Courtright of Columbus and Mrs. Bertha Jinks of Laurelville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
