Johnson

Katherine Lavina Middleton was born in Holmes county, Ohio,

December 9, 1829.

She was married to Samuel Johnson in 1849. To this union were born fourteen children, six of whom died at an early age and one, Mrs. Della Northrup, died September 3, 1907. Mrs. Mary Russell is in California and Mrs. Ella Molt lives near Spalding. The others, Mesdames Jane Wilson, Minda Johnson and

Eva Barnica, S. A. and James are well known in the community.

Her husband passed away many years ago. Beside her children mentioned she leaves 31 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She and her husband were of the early homesteaders, settling on their farm about four miles southwest of Boone. Here she spent her life and here she died last Monday evening. Here she did her share, full and plenty, in making the country and filling it with an honest, industrious citizenship. She knew the toils and privations of pioneer life. She has earned a rest. In early life she surrendered to the claims of her Lord, became obedient to the faith and has tried to live as Christian all these years. She never denied the faith. Funeral was from the Boone church Wednesday, conducted by D. J. Poynter, and the body laid in the Boone cemetery, there to await the coming of her Lord.
