CECIL ADCOCK HIT BY BASEBALL

DIED SATURDAY

Cecil Adcock passed away Saturday morning in the Ainsworth Hospital of a hemorrhage caused from injuries sustained last Thursday when he was hit on the left side of the head with a baseball.
Mr. Adcock was playing in the Meadville-Sparks game and had just gotten up to bat when the ball, which he failed to see, hit him. The injury was not considered serious at the time, and he was able to talk to his friends. His condition became worse Friday, and nothing human hands could do would save his life. His former home was at Auburn, but he had made Keya Paha County his home during the past ten years, living on a farm fourteen miles north of Springview. He leaves his wife and five children, the oldest being ten years old and the youngest four months.

CECIL LEE ADCOCK

Cecil Lee Adcock was born September 28, 1903 at Peru, Nebraska and passed away at Ainsworth, July 6, 1935 at the age of 31 years, 9 months and 8 days. He came to this community with his parents and settled on a ranch near Meadville. On March 10, 1922 he was united in marriage to Miss Ruth Williams of Meadville. For a year he assisted his father on the ranch. In 1923 he moved to Columbus, Nebraska where he farmed for two years. Then he moved to Silver Creek, and in 1926 to Auburn where he operated a dray line until 1930 when he came back to Burton where he spent the remainder of his life farming.
Mr. Adcock was known for his honesty and fairness in all his dealings, a kind, patient and sympathetic husband and father, a reliable neighbor, well liked by all who knew him.
He leaves to mourn his passing his widow; five children, Doris, Donald, Dean, Richard, and Vernon; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Adcock of Brock, Nebraska; six brothers, Charles of Casper, Wyoming, Elmer of Auburn, Clarence, Harold and Ralph of Brock, and Marion of Ft. Crook; one half brother, Joe of Auburn, and a half sister, Mrs. Lulu Arnold of Kearney.
His life was a kindly one and well spent. He will be missed but his memory will be esteemed.

Funeral services were held from the Union Church, northwest of Meadville, Monday, July 8. Reverend  O.D. Hoagland, minister with the Syfert Funeral Home in charge.
