Harold John Kaiser was born February 9, 1920 at his parents’ farm west of Stuttgart, Phillips County, Kansas, to Herman Henry Paul and Eva (Fink) Kaiser. He departed this life March 22, 2013, at the age of 93 years, at the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, Kansas.

Harold was baptized and confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Stuttgart, Kansas. He attended Pleasant College country school in rural Phillips County and graduated in 1937 from Phillipsburg High School.

fter high school graduation, Harold worked in building construction in Kansas. He entered the Army of the United States on March 25, 1942. He was a Staff Sergeant Supply Non Commissioned Officer in the 255th. Engineer Construction Battalion. World War II battles and campaigns were Tunisia, Rome Arno, Southern France, North Apennines, and Po Valley. On October 11, 1945, he was honorably discharged.

Lucinda Marie Weinman and Harold Kaiser were united in marriage on June 6, 1946 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church near Stuttgart by Reverend Krauss. The couple lived on their farm northwest of Phillipsburg during their entire marriage.

Harold was a farmer and operated a feed lot on the farm he purchased in 1946.

Harold was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and remained a faithful member, serving on the church council and building committee of the church and parsonage.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucinda, on February 8, 2010; his parents; his brother Erwin Kaiser and a grandson, Craig Michael Spicer.

He is survived by his daughter Pamela Spicer and husband, Michael of Clay Center; three grandchildren: Christina Haigh and husband, Richard of Woodinville, WA; Curtis Spicer and wife, April of Marysville; and Caylyn Krizan and husband, Chad of Olathe; five great-grandchildren: Aliah, Annabelle and Violet Haigh, and Blake and Ava Spicer. A sister, Erma Jansonius of Phillipsburg, also survives.

Funeral services will be held at the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, Kansas, Saturday, March 30, at 10:00 a.m., with the Rev. Shelly Klingensmith officiating. Burial will be at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

Harold will lie in state from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with family receiving friends for visitation from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral chapel.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Phillips County Retirement Center, Phillips County 4-H or Clay County 4-H.
