Mrs. M. J. Combs Dies At Huntley
Former Peru Resident Laid to Rest Here Last Tuesday
Mrs. M. J. Combs, who died at her home at Huntley, was brought to Peru for burial Monday evening. The funeral was held Tuesday morning at ten o'clock at the Methodist church and the services were conducted by Rev. R. A. Trowbridge of the church here, assisted by Reverend J. W. Henderson, of the Auburn Methodist Church. Interment was made in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Julia E. Roberts was born in Brookville, Indiana, January 12, 1848, and died at Huntley, Nebraska, September 25, 1925, aged 77 years, eight months and thirteen days. On November 6, 1873, she was united in marriage to M. J. Combs, at Peru, Nebraska. To this union were born nine children, three of whom died in infancy. She leaves to mourn her death, the husband, M. J. Combs, and six children; Mrs. J. L. Adcock, Silver Creek, Nebraska; Homer L. Combs, Auburn; Neal Combs, Hastings; Elmer Combs, Huntley; Mrs. James Davis, Huntley; and Mrs. C. A. Davis, Garey, Colorado; also three sisters; Mrs. Vina Heywood, Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Nettie Anderson, Baldwin City, Kansas; and Mrs. Alice South, Auburn, Nebraska'; and one brother. With her parents she moved from Indiana to Cedar County, Missouri, where they resided until the beginning of the civil war, when they moved to Peru, Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Combs moved to Huntley in 1908, where they resided at the time of her death. She united with the Methodist Church at Peru, at an early age, and always led a true and devoted Christian life. Mrs. Combs was well known to all the older residents of this vicinity, and she was universally respected and esteemed. The many old friends of the family here extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
