Beyerlein Celebrate

50th Wedding Anniversary

On Sunday, March 1st, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beyerlein, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in the midst of all their children, relatives and friends.

They were married fifty years ago on February 28. One best man, Mr. Charles Merklein and one bridesmaid, Mrs. Mike Bach, who attended the bridal couple on their wedding day, were present. Mr. Dan Eltiste of Orange, California, who was also best man on that day, was unable to be here. The other bridesmaid, Mrs. Barbara Bach, a sister of the bride, passed on the beyond many years ago.

A beautiful three-tier wedding cake formed the center-piece of the dinner table at which places were laid for the following guests:

The honor guests; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beyerlein, the best man, Mr. Charles Merklein and Mrs. Merklein; the children, Mr. and Mrs. August Dusin and Emil, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beyerlein, Paul Jr., and Erma, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Grau and Loren, Mrs. Elizabeth Baumgartner of Strawberry Point, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Beyerlein; also Mr. William Krafft, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Krafft, and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Dusin.

In the afternoon seventy visitors responded to "open house" held between the hours of 3:30 and 5:30, to congratulate them and wish them many more years of married life together.

Besides all these well wishings, Mr. and Mrs. Beyerlein received many beautiful cards and gifts.

Obituary ~ Beyerlein

John Paul Beyerlein, son of Paul Beyerlein and Maria nee Schmidt, was born October 1, 1867, in Kaltenbuch, Bavaria, Germany.  Soon after his birth he was received into the kingdom of God through Holy Baptism.

He also received his Bible school training in the Lutheran Church

at his birth place.

He came to America  with his parents in 1881 and first settled near Auburn, Nemaha County, Nebraska.  In 1887 he came, with his parents, to Phillips County, Kansas.  Since 1893 he lived on his farm, where he died December 19, 1948, at 10 a.m.  He attained the age of 81 years, 2 months and 17 days.

On February 28, 1892, he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Preuss.  They lived a happy wedded life and in February 1942 were privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary with their entire family.

This union God blessed with three sons and three daughters. According to their ages they are: Mrs. Mary Dusin, Fred and Paul, all of Phillips county; a set of twins, Mrs. Elizabeth Baumgartner of Strawberry Point, Iowa, and Mrs. Ida Grau of Phillips county; and Leonard of Phillips county.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mary; his six children; a sister, Mrs. M. Eltiste of Orange, California; fifteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many friends.

Mr. Beyerlein was a faithful member of Emmanuel Lutheran church, Stuttgart, Kansas, since he came here. For many years he was a member of the church council. He attended the services of God's house regularly until his illness prevented him from doing so. He was an invalid for almost two years. During his illness he was a patient sufferer.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, December 22, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Stuttgart, with Rev. Herbert J. Schauer officiating. Burial was made in Emmanuel Lutheran cemetery.

CARD OF THANKS

We want to express our sincere appreciation for all the kindnesses extended to us following the death of our beloved husband and father; for all the beautiful floral offerings. Also to the singers and for the many sympathy cards and to Rev. Schauer for his comforting message.
