Theodore Grau Died May 22
Johannes Heinrich Theodore Grau, son of Heinrich and Elisabeth Bietz Grau, was born November 17, 1898, in Phillips County, Kansas, and departed this life at the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, Kansas, on May 22, 1977, having attained the age of 78 years, 6 months and 5 days. Ted grew to manhood on the farm southeast of Stuttgart, Kansas, and lived there during his adult life. He was a farmer until his retirement, but always maintained his interest in farm life and farm business. Ted was baptized into the Christian faith on December 11, 1896, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, Kansas, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, on April 14, 1912. He was a life-long member of the Emmanuel Lutheran congregation at Stuttgart. On November 19, 1924, he was united in marriage with Ida Beyerlein at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Stuttgart. To this union two sons were born. Son Loren, and a stillborn son, born March 16, 1935. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his stillborn son, one sister and two brothers. He leaves to mourn his passing a son, Loren and his wife, Frances, and two grandchildren, Linda and Sonja Grau. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Elisabeth Hesterman and Mrs. Katie Badenhoop, Kensington, Kansas, plus nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Memorial Services were held Tuesday, May 24, 1977, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, Kansas, with Pastor Duane Levin officiating. Hymns were sung by Alvin Veeh and Norman Merklein and by the congregation with Mrs. Marene Levin as organist. Casket bearers were Ernest Eltiste, Ernest Grau, Melvin Hesterman, Louis Beyerlein, Paul R. Beyerlein and Edwin Dusin. Burial was in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Stuttgart, Kansas, to await the resurrection.
