Vows Exchange in July Ceremony
The Christian Church of Peru was the scene of a very lovely wedding, Sunday, July 26, at four o'clock in the evening, at which time Miss Ruth Nadine Adcock became the bride of Phillip Fahrlander.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Adcock, Milford, Nebraska and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Fahrlander of Plattsmouth.
The impressive ceremony was performed in the presence of 250 guests by Reverend Lawrence Williams, pastor of the church.
Lighted candles in two seven branch candelabra and baskets of pale yellow gladiola's appointed the altar. The pews were marked with white satin bows and lily of the valley. The candles were
lighted by Linda Adcock, Milford and Rebecca Fahrlander,
Mrs. Clyde Duerfeldt presided at the piano for the prelude of nuptial music and the traditional wedding marches. Mrs. Duerfeldt also accompanied the soloist, George Rumler, Milford, who sang "Through The Years" and "Because".
The lovely bride, appearing on the arm of her father, wore a gown of imported Chantilly lace and tulle over taffeta. The basque bodice was designed with a sabrina neckline patterned with iridescent sequins and featured long sleeves tapering to bridal points. Beneath the slender waist sequins were repeated on lace appliqués to trim the extremely bouffant skirt of alternating panels of lace and tulle. Her veil of silk illusion was held by a tiara of seed pearls. She carried a cascade arrangement of white roses.
Miss Judith Miller, Peru, served as maid of honor. She was attired in a floor length gown of mint green silk organza over taffeta, fashioned with a scoop neckline, featuring a wide cummerbund, which ended in a pleated bow in the back. She also wore a matching headband of tulle and carried a nosegay of white daises. Bridesmaids, Miss Jo Ellen McNergney, Tecumseh, and Miss Jeanette Romans, Council Bluffs, were dressed in gowns identical to that of the maid of honor, and carried nosegays of white daises.
Flower girls were Barbara Adcock, Milford, and Mary Jo Mougey, Union. Robert Hoback, Nebraska City served as best man. Ushers were Gerald Adcock, Brock, and Jim Ulrich, Plattsmouth.
The reception was held in the church parlors immediately following the ceremony. The lace covered table was centered with a five tier wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom. Ice cream, coffee and punch were also served.
For traveling the bride chose a two piece navy blue linen dress with white accessories.
Mrs. Fahrlander attended the Nebraska State Teachers College at Peru. The groom attended the University of Nebraska and the Nebraska State Teachers College at Peru.
Following a Honeymoon Trip touring Iowa, the couple will be at home in Diller, Nebraska, where Mr. Fahrlander has a teaching Postion.
