Marvin Leroy Adcock

Marvin Leroy Adcock was born Jan. 12, 1937 in Auburn, Nebraska, the son of Elmer Claude and Hilda Barbara (Bohling) Adcock. He passed away suddenly Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 6 days.
Marvin grew up in the rural Auburn, Nebraska area and graduated from Peru High School in 1955. Following high school he served his country for 20 years between the National Guard and Naval Reserves. He also attended the Nebraska Vocational-Technical School in Millford for two years. On Aug. 10, 1958, Marvin was united in marriage to Jacqueline Jean Pebley in Peru, Nebraska This union was blessed with two children, Don and Dean.
Following his schooling in Milford, Marvin and Jackie moved to Shenandoah. Marvin worked for several businesses in Shenandoah including Hamm's Hardware, Montgomery Ward, Brownson Tractor and Bird's Automotive before starting his 22-year career with the Shenandoah Community Schools as a bus mechanic and transportation supervisor.
In 1989, Marvin became the first ward councilman for Shenandoah and served two terms. In 1999, Marvin returned to take the vacated council at large seat. He was re-elected in 2009 and recently announced that he would seek re-election again this November. He was a member of the American Legion, Odd Fellows, Elks Lodge, Eagles and the Chapter "P" Gold Wing Riders. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, camping, mowing or just riding his motorcycle. He was also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Marvin's true love was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Grace Pebley and a brother-in-law, Spencer Pebley.
Survivors include his wife Jackie of Shenandoah; his two sons, Don Adcock and his fiancé Chris Hansen of Essex, Dean Adcock and his wife Chris of Belmond, Iowa; two grandchildren, Emily Adcock of Belmond, Iowa and Steven Adcock of Ames; three great grandchildren, Sophia, Emma and Grace; three sisters, Nadine Fahrlander and her husband Phil of Minden, Nebraska, Linda Elze and her husband Michael of Culpepper, Virginia, Barbara Meier and her husband Kevin of Indianola; two sisters-in-law, Gwen Zeibig and her husband Doug of Steinaur, Nebraska, Sarah Stevicks and her husband Tom of Lincoln; a brother-in-law, Rodney Pebley and his wife Kathy of Peru; along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Shenandoah. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date. Visitation with the family present took place on Tuesday evening, May 21 at Kirsch Funeral Chapel in Shenandoah
