Obituary - OPAL BEER
Opal Irene Ross, daughter of William H. and Emma Miller Ross, was born July 7, 1910 in Auburn. One of four children, Opal lived most of her life in the Auburn community. June 1, 1941, she married John Beer. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Auburn and of the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of Sheridan cemetery Auxiliary. Her husband died in 1982. Opal died April 2, 1999, at Bryan LGH Medical Center in Lincoln, having reached the age of 88 years, eight months and 24 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; three brothers, including Charles and Clifford, and one great-grandson, Jeffrey Huey. Survivors are two children, Clyde Huey of Nemaha and Delores Keithley and husband Buck of Stover, Missouri; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Ross of Omaha and Donna Catlin of Nebraska City, other relatives and many friends. Services were held at Casey-Witzenburg Chapel April 6, conducted by Rev. Jocelyn Tupper. Pallbearers were William Genthe, Dan Gerdes, Gene Breazile, John Birdsley, Bob Holtzman and Jack Humphrey. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Paul Scott, Floyd Carmichael and Melvin Little. Interment was in Sheridan Cemetery near Auburn.

Obituary - John BEER
John Beer, son of John and Sarah J. McCarthy Beer, was born on May 7, 1905 at Wichita Falls, Texas. He received his education at Wichita Falls and grew to manhood in that community. On June 1, 1941, he was united in marriage to Opal Ross. John was an ironworker for most of his life. He had been ill with cancer for one year and passed away at the Nemaha County Hospital on March 23, 1982. He had reached the age of 76 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Opal of Auburn; son Clyde Huey of Nemaha, daughter, Mrs. Lester (Dolores) Keithley of Kansas City, Kansas, eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Phillips of Cold Spring, Texas, Mrs. Fern Moody and Mrs. Bernice Counts of Wichita Falls, Texas, one brother, Mike Beer of Livingston, Texas; aunt Flossie Beer of Lamar, Missouri; nieces and nephews; cousins and many friends Honorary pallbearers: Ed Huey, Rusty Ruby, Phil Palmer, Melvin Little and Tom Whitaker. Casket Bearers: Nelson Hill, Loyal Beard, Muril Breazile, Gene Breazile, John Birdsley and Bob Holtzman. Assisting with flowers: Mrs. Eunice Oakley and Mrs. Viola Ruby. Songs featuring the voice of Merriall Womach: "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset." Clergyman: Rev. J. B. Choate. Funeral services held at Casey-Witzenburg Funeral Chapel, March 26, 1982 at 2:00 p. m. Burial was in Sheridan Cemetery. .
