Vernon J. Vogel

Vernon J. Vogel, son of William M. Vogel and Anna M. Miller Vogel, was born in Stuttgart on August 6, 1911 and passed away early Sunday morning, March 13 at the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, at the age of 76.

Vernon was baptized on August 27, 1911 in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Stuttgart by the Rev. Otto Rossbach and was confirmed on July 5, 1925 by the Rev. F. Schardt.

He attended school in Stuttgart. On February 22, 1933 he was united in marriage to Lena Kathryn Boethin at the American Lutheran Parsonage in Kensington by the Rev. E. A. Stein.

They farmed west of Phillipsburg for a time and then Vernie worked in the oil fields for 35 years before he retired. After his retirement Vernie still farmed on the Otto Boethin farm.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg and the Men's Club.

Survivors include his wife, Lena of the home; one brother, Alvin Vogel and wife, Martha, and one sister Wilma Kellerman, all of Stuttgart; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was associated with many, many people and thoroughly enjoyed visiting. He will be sadly missed.

Memorial services for Vernon J. Vogel were held at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joel Hiesterman officiating on Thursday, March 15 at 2 p. m. The congregation sang "Beautiful Savior" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" accompanied by

 organist Donna Jean Townley.

Casket bearers were Roger Waterman, Steve and Barry Boethin, and Lee Roland and Eugene Vogel. All of Vernon's friends were the honorary bearers. Interment was in First Lutheran Cemetery, Phillips County. Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel of Phillipsburg handled the arrangements.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR UNCLE VERNON VOGEL

God saw you getting tired

And a cure was not to be

So he put his arms around you

And whispered, "Come with me."

With tearful eyes we watched you suffer

And saw you fade away.

Although we couldn't bear to lose you

We could not ask you to stay.

A Golden Heart stopped beating

Hard working hands laid to rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us,

That he only takes the best.

Sadly missed by Roger and Kaye Waterman

and daughters Melanie and Tammy.

CARD OF THANKS

Our sincere thanks for all the cards, flowers, memorial contributions, food brought in and visits at the time of the death of our loved one. It will always be appreciated and remembered. A special thanks to the ladies of the church who served us lunch the day of the service.
