PHILLIPSBURG - Martha M. Vogel, 91, Phillipsburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at Phillips County Retirement Center, Phillipsburg. Mrs. Vogel was born Martha M. Merklein on Jan. 18, 1908, at Stuttgart and was a lifetime resident of the Phillipsburg area. She was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stuttgart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, in 1993; two daughters, Carolyn Kinter in 1968 and Kathryn Heersink in 1995; and a son, Roland, in 1997. Survivors include two sons, Gene and Lee, both of Stuttgart; a brother, Alvin Merklein of Prairie View; three sisters, Hilda Miller and Freida Eltiste, both of Phillipsburg and Emily Merklein of Prairie View; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Rev. Bill "J" Terry Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Stuttgart. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, 1115 Second, Phillipsburg 67661, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
