Former Resident Dies in Maumee Jacob Halson Hoy, 64 Stricken By Heart Attack While Doing Chores
Jacob Hoy, 64, former resident of Hancock County, died at 4:30 o'clock, Sunday afternoon of a heart attack at the Lucas County Children's Home in Maumee, where he had been employed for the last nine years.
Mr. Hoy had been in good health until Sunday, when he complained of not felling well. He asked his son-in-law, Edwin Richardson, Maumee to assist him with his evening chores, and it was while they were doing the work that he collapsed in the barn and died.
Mr. Hoy was born September 2, 1874, in Kansas , the son of son of Alexander and Calista Jane (Orwick) Hoy, but he lived for a number of years in Wyandot county and Hancock county. He moved to Hancock county in 1919 and resided in Biglick and Marion townships (Hancock Co.) before going to Lucas county.
He was married December 28, 1900, to Hattie Ellen Shurman, who died May 28, 1910. He remarried August 2, 1910 to Ida Belle Moore, who died February 9, 1937.
Surviving are his 3 children, Chester Hoy, Marion Twp., Mrs. Edwin Richardson, Maumee; and Mrs. C. D. Copley, Thurman, Ohio, and one child died in infancy.
He was a member of the Miami Church of Christ in Maumee. No funeral arrangements have been made as of last night. The body was brought to the Coldren Funeral Home, Findlay.
