William Waldo Troutman, 78, a resident of this community

four your, died early today in a local convalescent hospital.


Funeral services will be held in the

Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. Wednesday

and burial will be in the Haven of Rest Cemetery.


Mr. Troutman, a native of Kansas, was employed as a

civilian worker in the Navy until his retirement.


He leaves his wife, Mrs. Bessie Troutman,

 2065 Beachwood Drive; two sons,

Edwin of Phoenix, Ariz. and Edward of Winchester, Conn.;

four daughters, Mrs. Roy Davey of Michigan,

 Mrs. Maureen Howe of Grand Junction, Ariz.,

Mrs. Darlene Hudson of Dallas, Tex.,

 and Mrs. Ruth Line of Whittier;

20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Maureen Troutman Howe

Memorial services for Maureen Elizabeth Troutman Howe will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 12, at the First Baptist Church of Cortez. Pastor Ronald Horne will officiate. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in the Cortez Cemetery.

Maureen was born on June 7, 1917, to William Waldo and Bessie Elizabeth Smith Troutman in Central City, Neb. Maureen went to be with our Lord and Savior on May 3, 2001, in Payson, Ariz. She was 84.

Maureen had three sisters, Erma, Ruth and Darline, and two brothers, Elwin and Edward. Her family moved to Arizona and New Mexico, where Maureen met her future husband, John Harley Howe. They married on December  8, 1935, in Taos, N.M.,

and celebrated over 60 years together.

To this union were born three children: Pauline, Shirley and Gary. The family moved from New Mexico to Provo, Utah, and in 1947, moved to Cortez. After living in Cortez for 13 years, they moved to Montrose, Colo.

When Harvey’s health began to fail, he and Maureen moved to Apache Junction, Ariz. Harley passed away in 1996, and Maureen moved to Payson to be near Shirley.

Maureen is survived by her children, Pauline (Robert C.) Conner; Shirley (Gary) Stabnau, and daughter-in-law, Aime Howe; grandchildren, Robert, Richard, Bill, Jay Conner; Terrie Conner Rios, Rusty Hicks; Chandra and Shamus Howe, and Nathan and Staci Sanburg. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Line of California; brother Edward Troutman of Connecticut; sister-in-law Eunice Troutman, brother-in-law James (Lois) Howe; sister-in-law Ethlyn Jones; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and innumerable friends, including two very special ones, Helen Best of Mesa, Ariz.. and Cora Smith of Cortez.

To know Maureen Howe was to love her.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Gary, sisters Erma and Darline, her brother Elwin and three great-granddaughters,

Hannah, Jessie and Lauren.

Maureen Howe

 

 

Maureen E. Howe, 83, of Payson, died May 3,

2001, in Payson. She was born June 7, 1917, in

Central City, Nebraska. She was the daughter of

Waldo and Bessie Troutman.

 

Mrs. Howe was raised, along with her three sisters

and two brothers, in McNary and Phoenix.

 

At the age of 16, she moved to Cimarron, New Mexico

to care for an aging Grandmother. It was in Cimarron

that she met and married John Harley Howe

December 5, 1935. Harley died one day after the couples 61st anniversary,  in 1996.

 

Mrs. Howe was the bookkeeper of the family business.

She also was a fine seamstress and enjoyed the

outdoors. After the couples retirement, they moved to

Apache Junction, Arizona, where Maureen was an

officer and active member of the Grandmother's Club,

helping needy children.

 

In 1997, Mrs. Howe moved to Star Vale Mobile Home

Park in Star Valley, where she enjoyed socializing with

the ladies in the park. She attended Mountain Bible Church.

 

Survivors include three daughters, Pauline and her husband Clifford Connor, of Cortez, Colorado.,

 Shirley and her husband Gary Stabnau, of Payson,

 and a daughter-in-law Aime Howe of Montrose, Colorado; one sister, Ruth Line of Whittier, California; one brother, Edward Troutman of Manchester, Connecticut; 10 grandchildren,

22 great-grandchildren, three great-great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harley, one

son, Gary; two sisters; and one brother.

 

No local services are planned.

 

Burial will be in Cortez, Colorado, May 12.

Ruth Marie Shirley Line, passed away

on April 25, 2004.

 

She was born February 15, 1922 in Cimarron, New
Mexico. She came to California to work as an

inspector at McDonald Douglas during WWII.

 

On April 6, 1946, she married Russell Line and they

soon built and settled into their home in Whittier,

California. They were blessed and survived by

three daughters and 6 grandchildren.

Since her husbands

passing in 1999 she continued to live on the

original property. Funeral services will be held on

Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Hills,

Whittier.
