Mary Vogel

Mary Vogel, oldest daughter of John and Kunigunda Ehm, was born December 2, 1889.  She was baptized shortly after birth at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed in April, 1904.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to George Vogel on June 7, 1911. Their union was blessed with one son. They made their home on a farm in Mound township until 1916 when they moved to Loveland, Colorado. There Mr. Vogel worked as a carpenter and later operated a farm in the Loveland vicinity until 1956 when she and her husband returned to Phillipsburg to make their home. Mary spent her last years in a rest home.

She is survived by two brothers; Bill and wife, Gladys and Arnold and wife, Minnie, all of Phillipsburg; one sister, Frieda Vogel of Phillipsburg; and daughter-in-law, Bertha Woodall; two sisters-in-law, Ida Ehm, Phillipsburg, and Sally Ehm, San Diego, California; two grandsons, Richard and wife, Daphney, and Wayne; one granddaughter, Jane and husband, William Mahan; six-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Her brother, Alvin of San Diego, California, passed away only eight hours after Mary's death.

A memorial service was held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Tuesday, August 27 at 10:00 a. m. The Reverend Paul Anderson officiated.

The congregation sang two songs; "How Great Thou Art" and "Nearer My God To Thee", accompanied by Donna Jean Townley, organist.

Casket bearers were Virgil Ehm, Loren Ehm, Arthur Ehm, Lee Vogel, Wayne Baker and Roland Vogel.

Interment was in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Stuttgart, Kansas.
