Obituary Mrs. Emma Oestmann
Emma Marie Bohling, daughter of Fred and Anna (Baden) Bohling, was born on a farm in Nemaha County, April 9, 1887. She was one of seven children. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Hickory Grove.
Her schooling was obtained at Linden rural school northwest of Auburn. She was united in marriage to Henry G. Oestmann April 27, 1906, at Hickory Grove church. Three children were born to this union. The Oestmann's remained members of Hickory Grove until 1920 when they moved to a farm eight miles southwest of Johnson. Then they transferred their membership to the Martin Luther church. August 12, 1949, Mr. Oestmann died. In 1951 she moved to Johnson and lived there until March of 1970 when she became a resident of the Maple Grove Home south of Tecumseh. She died October 16 in the Maple Grove Home at the age of 86 years, six months and seven days. Preceding her in death were her husband, one grandchild, one brother and two sisters. Surviving her are three children, Alvin of Johnson, Gustav of Auburn and Mrs. Albert (Alma) Conradt of Tecumseh, nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Martin Luther church Friday afternoon with Reverend Lowell Asplund officiating. Interment was at the Martin Luther Church Cemetery.

Henry G. Oestmann Passed Away Friday
Henry G. Oestmann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Oestmann was born October 9, 1879 near the Hickory Grove church. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Reverend Rehwoldt and on April 1, 1894 confirmed in the Hickory Grove Church by Reverend Streng. His youth was spent at the home of his parents. During his youth he attended the public schools of the county. On April 27, 1906 he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Maria Bohling of Auburn and to this union 3 children were born. Following the marriage, the couple made their home on farms near Johnson. Since 1920, they have resided on their own farm located 3-1/2 miles southwest of the Martin Luther church. Mr. Oestmann was highly respected as a citizen and Christian. He repeatedly held office in the church of which he was a member. He will be well remembered for his meritorious work during his construction of the church parsonage. He not only severed his church board but was a member of the school board. He has been a member of the board of directors of Nemaha County Cooperative Association. Two years ago, he was a delegate at the church's general conference. At the time of his death he was a member of the hospital board of Beatrice. He was a thorough Christian gentleman. Mr. Oestmann has been in failing health for the past four years. He had reached the age of 70 years, 7 months and 30 days. Those surviving him are; his widow Emma, sons, Alvin, Elk Creek; Gustav, Johnson; and a daughter, Mrs. Chester Stutheit, Auburn; two brothers, Fred and William, Auburn; three sisters; Mrs. William Zabel, Gaylord, Kansas; Mrs. John Schlange, and Mrs. H. H. Bohling, Auburn; besides nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, August 15, at the home and at the Martin Luther church with Rev. William Fruehling officiating. Music was by the church choir. Pallbearers were; Walter Schlange, Arthur Zabel, Alvin Bohling, Edwin Oestmann, Otto Bohling, Emil Bohling. Interment was made in Martin Luther cemetery with Casey's in charge of funeral arrangements.
