REDFIELD - Services for Mrs. Adah Elizabeth Thoman,

77, who died Wednesday at the Community Memorial

Hospital, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the

Coleman Funeral Chapel here.

The Rev. Paul Opsahl will officiate and burial will be in the

Frankfort Cemetery.

Mrs. Thoman was born Sept. 18, 1891, at Chicago and came

 to the Conde area with her family in the spring of 1896.

She was married first, in 1909, to Clyde Hoy and they

made their home at Rockham. He died in 1950 and in 1953

she was married to Harry Thoman. Mrs. Thoman has resided

at Redfield since his death.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Avis Mathiason of Redfield

and three grandchildren.

Harry Thornton Thoman, 207 Nebraska Avenue  S. W.,

died Tuesday at St. John's Hospital at the age of 86.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. at the Weller Funeral Chapel,

with Loftus H. Ward officiating.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call Tuesday or Wednesday evenings

at the Weller Funeral Home.

Harry T. Thoman was born Oct. 15, 1879, at Wilber,

Nebraska,  the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Thoman.

He moved to Huron with his parents in 1881

and attended Huron grade and high schools and

Huron Academy. He began employment

 with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in 1902

and retired as a conductor in 1945. He married Bessie Huke,

 in 1904, in Lake Preston; she preceded him in death.

 In 1953, he was married to Adah Hoy. Thoman was a 50-year member of Masons and a 50-year member of Elks.

Survivors include his widow, Adah; two sons,

Ray, Rapid City and Eddie, Yakima, Washington; 

one step-daughter,  Avis Mathiason, Redfield,

three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Clyde M. Hoy (29, born in Ohio) is residing with his wife, Adah E. Hoy (18, born in Illinois)

and their daughter, Avis G. Hoy (1 month, born in South Dakota)

This census also states that Clyde & Adah had not been married 1 year yet as of April 15, 1910.

It also Lists Clyde's Occupation as a Clerk in a Pool Hall.

 

Per the February 23, 1920, Zell Township, Faulk County, South Dakota Census,

Clyde M. Hoy (39) is residing with his wife, Adah E. Hoy (28) and their daughter, Avis G. Hoy (9).

Also residing with them is Adah's Step-father, Albert J. Fehlman,

(54, Born in Illinois and Widowed).

This Census also states that both Clyde & Albert Fehlman were owners of a Butcher Shop,

and that both Alberts Parents were born in Alsace Loraine, France.
