John Wesley Hoy was born in Westerville, Ohio April 20, 1857. In 1882 he moved to a farm seventeen miles south of Frankfort, South Dakota, and homesteaded there. Later, in 1901, he moved to Frankfort. On November 20, 1878, he was married to

Mr. Hoy had been failing in health about a year and during the last three weeks was seriously ill and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. R. Olson, Wednesday evening November 1, at 8 p.m.
At one time Mr. Hoy served Frankfort as Mayor and was highly regarded by all the citizens. Mr. Hoy was a member of the Evangelical Church at Irving, South Dakota, which was established by his father who for many years was an Evangelical minister and was highly respected by a large constituency. Mr. Hoy also belonged to the Odd Fellow Lodge at La Delle, South Dakota.
He lost his wife and companion July 3, 1910. One brother Silas Hoy passed away last spring. He leaves to mourn his loss three sons and three daughters; six brothers and three sisters; and four grandchildren; and a large circle of friends. The people of this community extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.
The funeral services was conducted from the Methodist church by Reverend Albert Hocking on Friday afternoon. The floral tributes were many and beautiful.
