PHILLIPSBURG - Fred E. Zillinger, 76, Phillipsburg, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005.
Mr. Zillinger was born April 2, 1929, in Phillips County. He was a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Luella, of the home; four sons, Charles of Troy, Idaho, Jeffrey of Topeka, Everett of Shepardstown, West Virginia, and Gregory of Hannover, N.D.; two brothers, Andrew and Ray, both of Phillipsburg; six sisters, Marian King of Hays, Bertha Whitney of Phillipsburg, Ruth Halett of Nowata, Oklahoma, Esther Lynn of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ellen McKinsey of Aurora, Colorado, and Genevieve Townley of Kingman; and 12 grandchildren The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg. Burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church Building Fund or Phillips County Hospital Long Term Care. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Fred Everett Zillinger
PHILLIPSBURG --- Fred Everett Zillinger was born on April 2, 1929, to Philip and Janie. He died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Phillipsburg Long Term Care. Graduating from high school in 1947, Mr. Zillinger farmed west of Phillipsburg for many years and was a service technician for Motorola. Mr. Zillinger served his state and country by enlisting, and later earning a warrant commission, in the Kansas Army National Guard, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. In January 1954, he married Luella Dill and they had four sons, Charles, Jeff, Everett and Gregory. Last summer, they celebrated their 50th anniversary surrounded by children, family and friends. Fred was a member of Phillipsburg's First Lutheran Church, the VFW, NGAUS, NRA, Amateur Radio Club and Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles. Survivors include his wife, Luella; four sons and their families, Charles and Kathleen, Troy, Idaho, Jeff and Joyce, Topeka, Everett and Susan, Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Gregory and Sara, Hannover N.D.; and eight siblings. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at First Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg or Phillipsburg Long Term Care facility and sent of Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, 1115 2nd St., Phillipsburg, Kansas 67661.
