Obituary Philip George John Zillinger
Philip George John Zillinger was born June 3, 1894 to the late Philip and Margaret (nee: Hatzel) Zillinger on the parental homestead southwest of Phillipsburg, Kansas. He passed away at the Norton county hospital, January 17, 1972 having reached the age of 77 years, 7 months and 14 days. He spent most of his life farming in Phillips county. He was baptized in the Zion Lutheran church on June 17, 1894 and confirmed in the Lutheran church April 26, 1908. He later became a member of the Presbyterian church in Phillipsburg, Kansas. On October 16, 1918, he was united in marriage to Janie I. Griffin. To this union, 10 children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and an infant son, Charles. Surviving are six daughters: Mrs. Ellsworth (Bertha) Kaiser, Phillipsburg; Mrs. David (Ruth) Hulett, El Centro, California; Mrs. Harold (Esther) Schlegel, Satanta, Kansas; Mrs. Arthur (Ellen) McKinsey, Aurora, Colorado; Mrs. Dean (Genevieve) Townley, Kingman, Kansas; and Mrs. Melvin (Marian) King, Phillipsburg; three sons: Andrew of Stuttgart, Ray and Fred of Phillipsburg; one sister, Mrs. George (Dora) Schauer of Owatonna, Minnesota, and one brother, Paul Zillinger, Stockton, Kansas; 31 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces. Memorial services were held Wednesday afternoon, January 19 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Robert Conklin officiating. Hymns were sung by Fredrick Henrichs, accompanied by Mrs. Jack Witmer. Casket bearers were Ernest Bruning, John Ebner, Herman Zillinger, Ernest Grau, Frank Brenzikofer and Albert Morgan. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery.
