John Frederick  Ehm

John Frederick Ehm, son of John and Kunigunda Ehm was born on April 18, 1899, near Phillipsburg, and passed away on January 15, 1977, at the age Hadley Memorial Hospital, in Hays, Kansas, at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 28 days.

John was united in marriage with Anna Miller on September 24, 1924, and made their home on a farm northeast of Phillipsburg most of their married years. In 1971, they retired to their home in Phillipsburg where they were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in 1974 with their family and friends.

He trusted Christ as his personal Savior and often stated that he was ready to meet his Lord. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Due to failing health, John had been confined to the Long Term Care Unit at Phillipsburg during his last months.

His parents and an infant sister preceded John in death. He is survived by his widow, Anna of the home in Phillipsburg; two sons, Loren and his wife, Lois, of Phillipsburg, Arlen and his wife, Betty Jo, of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Lavonne and her husband, Wayne Baker, of Phillipsburg, and Melba and her husband, Frank Betz, of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is also survived by four brothers, Henry and Arnold of Phillipsburg, William of Prairie View, and Alvin of San Diego, California, two sisters, Mary Vogel and Frieda Vogel, of Phillipsburg, Fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Frank Bentz as officiant. Special music was furnished by Darrell

Gale, Russell Rose, Ronald Rose and Keith DuBois.

Casket bearers were Ed Hoppe, Fred Hoppe, Clyde Pennington, Ed Howard, John Otis and Loren Anderson. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery.

Anna Ehm

Anna Henrietta Ehm, daughter of John and Maude Kelly Miller, was born September 8, 1901, near Stuttgart, Kansas, and passed away January 26, 1984, at the home of her daughter, Lavonne Baker, of rural Phillipsburg, at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 18 days.

She lived her entire life in Phillips County and was working in a store in Stuttgart where she met her husband John F. Ehm. They were married September 24, 1924, and to this union four children were born.

They lived on a farm until February 21, 1971, when they moved to Phillipsburg.

Anna’s life centered around her home, family and church. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, rural Phillipsburg. Her favorite scripture verse was “For me to live in Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians  1:21. The one hundred twenty-first Psalm was found marked in her Bible as a favorite also.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers and her husband, John.

She is survived by her two sons, Loren and wife, Lois, Phillipsburg, Arlen and wife, Betty Jo, Anchorage, Alaska, and two daughters: Lavonne and husband, Wayne Baker, Phillipsburg, and Melba and Husband, Frank Bentz, Minneapolis, Minnesota: one brother, John Miller, Phillipsburg; 14 grandchildren; Tim Ehm and wife, Marcia, Jan and husband, Scott Troyer, Brent Ehm, Rodney, Roger, Sherri and Terri Baker, Debbie and husband, Gary Robinson, Phillipsburg, Kevin Ehm and wife, Sherri, Kim Ehm,

Anchorage, Alaska, Kraig Ehm, Houston, Texas, Debbie Bentz, Craig Bentz and wife, Meri, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Denise and husband, Don Bell, Indianapolis, Indiana; nine great-grandchildren; Cheyenne and Tate Troyer, Kane and Clint Christy, Lacie, Lannie and Logan Robinson, Phillipsburg, Jonathon and Jennifer Ehm, Anchorage, Alaska, and one nephew, Harold Dusin, Phillipsburg.

Memorial Services were held Monday, January 30, at 2:30 p.m. in the Oliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Arthur Doelittle officiating. Special music was sung by Darrel Gale, Keith Dubois, Ronald Rose and Russell Rose.

Casket bearers were Tim Ehm, Brent Ehm, Scott Troyer, Roger Baker, Rodney Baker and Gary Robinson, Rodney Baker and Gary Robinson.

Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
