Killed in New Mexico

 Auto Accident

This community was greatly shocked Friday when word was received that Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bertholf of Santa Fe, New Mexico, had been killed in a head on collision Thursday evening. Mrs. Bertholf and the driver of the other car were instantly killed. Mr. Bertholf lived a short time. They were former residents of Kirwin. Joe came to the home of his uncle and aunt, the late Charley Goetz at the age of nine. He is a brother of Charles Bertholf.  She was Clara Miller, a sister of Mrs. John Dettmer of Kensington. Mrs. Herman Miller, Phillipsburg. After marriage they lived in the house now owned by Hope Johnson. He was manager of the Farmers Union store for a time. They were a fine young couple and made many friends who regret to hear of their untimely death. They were the parents of a baby boy who died in infancy.
