Anemia Fatal To Lucy H. Sampson

Aged Jackson Township Woman Ill Four Weeks;

 Funeral is Tuesday

 

 

Mrs. Lucy Hoy Sampson, 84, widow of Eli Albert Sampson,

died at 5:50 o'clock Sunday morning at her

home in Jackson township. 

She had been ill for the past four weeks from anemia.


A native of Jackson township, Mrs. Sampson was born on

Dec. 19, 1855, the daughter of Abraham and Mary (Fellers) Hoy. 

She was married on Sept. 1, 1881, to Mr. Sampson. 

He preceded her in death on March 30, 1932.


Seven children were born to the union and four are living. 

They are Mrs. Edith White, who had been caring for her mother;

Fred Sampson of Delaware township;

Mrs. Anna Riter, Marion township,

and Virgil Sampson, of Jackson township. 

 Those dead are Mrs. Agnes Smith, Mrs. Golda Price

 and another daughter in infancy.


Mrs. Sampson was one of a family of 12 children. 

 Her death leaves only a brother, Rufus Hoy, of Urbana, Ill. 

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Sampson was a member of the Union Chapel in Jackson

 township until the church was abandoned.


Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock

Tuesday afternoon in the Houcktown Methodist church

with Rev. L. H. Naumann, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical church,

 Findlay, officiating.  He will be assisted by Rev. Russell Hawk. 

 Interment will be in Houcktown cemetery.
The body was taken to the Miles funeral home and returned

Sunday evening to the residence in Jackson township

 where it will remain until time for rites.

E. H. Sampson (30-Born Maryland) is residing with his wife Mary (29-Born Ohio)

and their children; Eli A. (5- Born Ohio), Anna (4-Born Ohio), Mary L., (2-Born Ohio)

and Lara (1-Born Ohio). Also residing with them is Jesse Bond (18 Born PA).

 

On the May 27, 1870 Jackson, Hancock County, Ohio Census

Eli Sampson (15-Born in Maryland) is residing at the home of Jacob & Mary Orwick, and their

children: Calista (22 and Single), Rachel (18), Mary (16), John (11), David (9) and Wilibie (3).

Also Living with the Orwick Family, are Eli's siblings, Annie Sampson (14-Ohio),

Mary Sampson (12-Ohio), Lora Sampson (11-Ohio) and Hinkle Sampson (6-Ohio).

 

Note: On February 16, 1871, Calista Orwick became the bride of Alexander Hoy,

Son of Abraham S. Hoy and his 2nd wife, Mary Magdalena (Fellers) Hoy.

 

On the June 3, 1880 Jackson Hancock County, Ohio Census,

 Eli A. Sampson (25-Single, Born: 1855 and Employed as a Stone Mason)

is residing with his sister, Anna R. Bibler (24), and her husband G. R. Bibler (30-Farmer),

and their children:

Wm F. Bibler (5), John H. Bibler (4), and  Lora D. Bibler (2). Also Living with the Bibler's,

are Anna's Brother, Hinkle E. Sampson (16), her sister, Laura F. Sampson (21),

and Kelly Williamson (20-Single Male, Farm Laborer)

 

On the June 14, 1900 Jackson, Hancock County, Ohio Census,

 Albert Sampson (44-Feb. 1855-MD) is living with his wife, Lucy (44-Dec. 1855-OH)

 and their children: Edith M., (16-July 1883-OH), Agnes R., (15-Nov. 1884-OH),

Fredrick A., (12-Dec. 1887-OH), Annie E., (10-Dec. 1889-OH),

Goldie P., (5-Sept. 1894-OH) and Virgil C., (2-Sept. 1897-OH).

Also residing with them is Eli's Sister, Lora F. Sampson (41-Jan. 1859-OH).
