David Sampson
Instantly Killed By A Falling Limb,

While Felling a Tree on His Farm

Near Mt. Blanchard.

David Sampson, one of the wealthiest and most prominent citizens

of Mt. Blanchard was instantly killed Wednesday afternoon.

It appears that he was in the woods on one

of his farms cutting wood.

In felling a tree a limb struck him on the breast

 causing instant death.
He was taken to his home by friends.

The Justice of the Peace in Delaware township acted as

Coroner in the case.  An inquest was deemed unnecessary.
Mr. Sampson was one of the best known men in the community.

He was about 56 years of age and left a wife and family

of grown up children.  He was the owner of several

good farms which he accumulated by hard work.

His sudden death is a sad blow to his many friends.

Young Girl
Dies As Result of Lamp Explosion

 in Bed Room

Miss Eva Sampson, Aged 18 years, of Mt. Blanchard,

Succumbs, After 24 Hours, to Severe Burns

Which She received Early Monday Evening.
As a result of injuries and burns received in the

explosion of a lamp in her bed room at an early hour

Monday morning, Miss Eva Sampson, aged eighteen years,

of Mt. Blanchard, died Tuesday morning after twenty-four

hours of almost unbearable suffering.
The home of Miss Sampson's mother was set afire

by the explosion and considerable damage was done.

The young woman was asleep at the time and was

burned as she lay in bed.
The fire was discovered by other members

of the family in time to save a portion of the home

from destruction, although not until Miss Sampson had

received burns which caused her death.

Her body was badly charred and burned as a result

of the bed clothing catching on fire and, despite the efforts of the village physician, Dr. R. N. Lee, who was hurriedly summoned,

she died twenty-four hours after the accident occurred.
The victim of the accident was a daughter of

David and Malinda Sampson, the former now deceased.
The funeral services will be held from the

Mt. Blanchard Methodist Protestant church

at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

Interment will take place in the Mt. Blanchard cemetery.
