Obituary

 

Rev. W. L. Hoy

Dies at 76

 

Rev. Wiley L. Hoy, 76, retired Evangelical minister,

died early Friday morning at his home, 721 Lincoln, Drive,

Grand Forks, North Dakota. He had been in ill health

for three years.

 

Born February 27, 1870, in Gehanna, Ohio, he was the

son of Rev. and Mrs. Samuel Hoy. In 1882 he came

with his parents to Spink County, South Dakota.

Rev. Hoy married Isabel McGaffin, December 26, 1896,

and they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary

last December.

 

Rev. Hoy entered the ministry 45 years ago and served

congregations in Olivet and Kidder, South Dakota,

and Wyndmere, Grand Forks, Chaffee, Great

Bend and Marion, North Dakota.

He retired three years ago.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters,

Mrs. N. W. Herzberg of Cleveland, Ohio, and

Mrs. W. E. Oppermann of Wheatland, North Dakota;

four sons, Calvin of Grand Forks, Maurice of Calvin,

North Dakota, Clinton of Cleveland, and

Dwight of Seattle, Washington; three sisters,

one brother and nine grandchildren.

 

Pallbearers that have been named are Cores

Oppermann, John Zintel, Herman Wimpheimer,

William Redmer, M. L. Williams and Fred Kaufman.

The body will lie in state at Hanson-Anderson chapel

Monday evening, and services will be held on

Tuesday at 2 p.m., from the Evangelical church.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
