Obituary - Miller
Mrs. Katherine Christina Miller, daughter of August and Katherine Eltiste, was born December 6, 1883, in Johnson County, Nebraska, and soon thereafter was baptized in the Lutheran Church near her home. At the age of 3 she moved with her parents to a farm in the Stuttgart community in Phillips County, Kansas. She received her Christian training in her parental home and the church school of Emmanuel Lutheran church, Stuttgart, Kansas, and was received into Communicant membership with the same church through the rite of Confirmation on April 25, 1897. On April 14, 1909, she was united in marriage with Mr. Michael Miller. They made their home on a farm about a mile east of Stuttgart. To this union were born four children, all of whom are still living. Mrs. Miller was in ill health for the past few years. She spent most of the last several months of her life in bed. Her children and her husband did all that loving hands could do to relieve her suffering. She was a patient sufferer. She passed away at her home at 10 p.m. on June 24, at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 18 days. She is survived by her husband, Michael Miller; her sons, Erwin of Wichita, Kansas, and Ellsworth of Stuttgart, Kansas; her daughters, Mrs. Esther Weinman of Stuttgart, Kansas and Mrs. Erna Bach of Woodruff, Kansas; her brothers, Fred Eltiste of Route 4, Phillipsburg, Kansas, and Chris Eltiste of Stuttgart, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Emma Vogel of Route 4, Phillipsburg, Kansas; a foster brother, Harold Benjamin of Los Angeles, California; 7 grandchildren and 1 step-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted at the Emmanuel Lutheran church, Stuttgart at 2:00 p. m. on June 27, pastor Herbert J. Schauer officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Music was furnished by the church choir, accompanied by Mrs. Verna Kistner. The pallbearers were: Ernest Eltiste, Alvin Dettmer, Virgil Miller, Carl Merklein, Ernest Grau and Leonard Preuss.
