Obituary-Eltiste
Katharina Hahn a daughter of Henry Hahn and his wife Katharina nee Lehn, was born April 13, 1858, at Peru, Illinois. In early infancy she was consecrated to the Lord in Holy Baptism. In 1872, Katharina came, with her parents, to Nemaha County, Nebraska. In the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Nebraska City she received her religious instruction and was confirmed at that place in 1873. In 1879 Katharina Hahn was married to August Eltiste and 68 years of happy married life God granted these spouses. This union was blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters, all of whom survive the mother. In 1886 the departed came to Phillips County, Kansas, with her husband and three children. Here they bought a small farm which they made into a cozy home with much labor and toil. The departed was a faithful Christian who loved her Saviour with all her heart. She had enjoyed generally good health until about 6 years ago she was weakened by a heart attack. Last fall she became ill. Since last November 13, she was bedfast. After a lingering illness of nine months the Lord called his servant out of this vale of sorrow to the Heavenly Mansions on Tuesday morning, July 29, 1947, at 8:20 o'clock, having attained the good ripe age of 89 years, 3 months and 16 days. Katharine Eltiste leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, August Eltiste; her children and their families, Fred and Chris Eltiste, Mrs. Christina Miller and Mrs. Emma Vogel; one foster-son Harold Benjamin of Los Angeles, California; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Charles Hahn of Johnson, Nebraska; and Henry Hahn of Anaheim, California; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Emma Schmidt and Mrs. Lizzie Collman, both of Johnson, Nebraska; and Mrs. Mary Ritter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends. Interment was made Thursday, July 31, in the cemetery of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Stuttgart, Kansas. May she rest in peace.
