Alfred M. Rader

Al was born July 5, 1927, in Farnam to George and Clara (Wickenkamp) Rader. He was baptized in 1927 then was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Arapahoe on March 29, 1942.

He attended grade school at Sunflower College in Frontier County in 1933 then Homerville School in Gosper County in 1937 and then Overton Public School in 1943.

On Sept. 14, 1958, he married Patsy Carpenter at Grace Lutheran Church in Sumner.

Al worked for many farmers in the Sumner area. He then worked in the Grand Island area doing construction. From 1955 to 1985, he worked for Parrish Lumber company and Farmers Non-stock Cooperative Association in Sumner. From 1985 to 1992, he worked for Lexington Co-operative in Sumner until retirement in 1992.

He was a member and past elder of Grace Lutheran Church in Sumner and a past member of the Sumner Fire and Rescue Squad. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling and fixing small motors.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Patsy of Sumner; sons, Steve Rader and wife Colleen of Lexington and Keith Rader of Seward; grandchildren, Eric Rader of Seward, Caleb Rader of Lincoln and Michael Rader of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Dakota Rader of Kearney and Gabbirelle Rader of Lexington; brothers, Raymond Rader and wife Melba of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Bill Rader and wife Connie of Sumner; and sister, Irene Knappert of Arapahoe.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey, Arthur and Ernest; and sister, Dorothy.

Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church in Sumner.
