Elmer C. Hahn Will

Hold Hog Sale

 

Elmer C. Hahn, breeder of spotted Poland China hogs, will

hold a "bred gilt" sale Wednesday, February 19, commencing

at 1:00 o'clock p.m. at the Fairground livestock pavilion. Mr.

Hahn has bee developing his strain of "spots" to the point where

he has one of the recognized good quality strains in this area.

Last fall Mr. Hahn held a spotted Poland China hog sale in

conjunction with Pete Susong, also breeder of "spots" and the men

gained considerable recognition for their high quality animals.

Mr. Hahn is offering 40 head of hogs on this sale, all of which

have been bred to high ranking boars.

Elvira Hahn-Kienker died December 14, 1988

in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 79. She had lived

in Nebraska for most of her life.

Born November 28, 1909 near Howe, she was the

daughter of Thomas and Sennie (Yelkin) Gerdes. She

attended Independence rural school and graduated

from Johnson high school.

She was married to Elmer C. Hahn and two sons were

born to this couple. Elvira later married Paul Kienker, and

worked for years as a therapist at the Good Samaritan

Center in Auburn.

Mrs. Kienker spent most of her life in Auburn,  Johnson

and Lincoln. After the death of her husband, Paul,

she moved to Wichita to be near her family. She was a

longtime member of Zion Lutheran church north of Johnson.

Elvira was admitted to a hospital in Wichita on
December 13, 1988, and died the next day. She was

preceded in death by her parents, husband and

 only brother,  Glen Gerdes

Mrs. Keinker is survied by two sons, Larry and Kenton Hahn

and their families, all of Wichita; also by two-step

children, Mrs. Robert Bogle of Plattsmouth and DeLynn

Kienker of Stromsburg; by five step-grandchildren;

a sister, Mrs. Erma Gerdes Anderson of Indianapolis, Indiana;

other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held December 16 at Zion Lutheran

church, conducted by Rev. Wayne Josephson.

Burial was in the church cemetery.
