OBITUARY

Emma Torbeck, daughter of Reiner and Christina Dirks Torbeck, was born April 11, 1892 in Nemaha County, one of 11 children.
She was baptized July 24, 1892 in the Febing Methodist Church by Reverend. F. H. Wippermann and confirmed at St. John's Stone Lutheran church by Revervend J.H. Dirks, April 18, 1906.
She received her schooling in the Febing rural school.
Feb. 4, 1913, she was married to Herman Oestmann and five children were born. They lived on a farm in the Johnson community.
They became members of St. Matthew Lutheran church in Johnson and she was an active member of the L.C.W.
March 19, 1947, her husband died. She continued to make her home on the farm with her son, Orvin, except for 1952-56 when she lived in Auburn. In 1966 she and Orvin moved to Johnson.
Four weeks ago she fell and broke her hip. On March 29 she entered the Good Samaritan Home in Auburn. On her birthday, April 11, 1984, she suddenly became ill and was rushed to the Nemaha County Hospital where she died that same afternoon. She had reached the age of 92 years.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and six sisters.
She is survived by four children: Mrs. Vern Moody of Auburn, Mrs. Harold Coulter of Winter haven, Florida Harold Oestmann of Johnson; her daughter, Mrs. Ernestine Lunzmann, followed her in death April 14, 1984; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were held April 14 at St. Matthew's Church, conducted by Reverend Everett Brailey.
Pallbearers were Larry Moody, Allan Moody, Jack Coulter, Allan Oestmann, Mathew Oestmann and Harvey Lunzmann.
Mrs. Robert Hogrefe was organist.
Burial was in St. Matthew's Cemetery.
