Hilka  Malpert

Hilka Johanna nee Torbeck Malpert was born March 3, 1880, on a farm near Febing in Nemaha County, Nebr., and passed away in Johnson, Nebraska, on April 6, 1956, having reached the age of 76 years, 1 month and 3 days. Up until the time of her death her health was good considering her age.
She was baptized on May 17, 1880 and later joined the Evangelical Church of Deshler, Nebraska, Later her membership was transferred to Salem Lutheran Church, Superior, Nebraska, where she has retained her membership. While at Johnson she attended the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
In April 1904 she was united in marriage to Alka J. Malpert at the Old Stone Church (sic) by the late Reverend J.H. Dirks. This union was blessed with seven children. In 1906 the family moved to Ruskin, Nebraska, where they engaged in farming. In 1921 they moved to Nora where they also farmed. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Malpert made her home with her children. Her main interest was her family and her household duties.

Preceding her in death were her oldest son Otto and her youngest daughter Elsie. Her husband also preceded her in death in 1938. Surviving to mourn her passing are her three sons, John of Deshler, Henry of Nelson, Nebr., and Alvin of Johnson; two daughters, Mrs. Erwin (Edna) Oestmann and Mrs. Louis (Irene) Haack, both of Johnson; ten grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 9, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church (sic) in Johnson with the Reverend Earl Heuser officiating. The music was furnished by Orvin Oestmann, who sang "Going Home" and "The Lord Is My Shepherd" with Carolyn Rogge at the organ.
Services were also held at 2:30 p.m. at Salem Lutheran church (sic) near Superior on Monday, April 9, with the Rev. W.H. Hanselmann officiating. Interment was made in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
