HARVEY "BUCK" PRESTON
Harvey L. "Buck" Preston, 61 of 1725 St. Paul Road, died Wednesday at a local hospital. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home with Rev. George H. Updegrove officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation was to be Thursday from 3-9 p.m. Mr. Preston was born July 6, 1915, at Auburn to Alva and Minnie Miller Preston. He was educated in Auburn and Falls City schools. He joined a Civilian Conservation Corps camp in 1933 and worked on projects in Nebraska ad Kansas. He joined the Army in Feburay of 1942 and received several decorations and commendations for his service as
a rifleman for Co. E., 118th Infantry. He fought in the France, Ardennes, Rhineland and other Central European campaigns. Upon his discharge in July 1945, he returned to Nebraska and worked as a superintendent of construction in Lincoln and Omaha. He came to Grand Island in 1962, and worked as a masonry contractor. He had no immediate family.
