Mrs. William Wallenberg

 

Katherine Christine Wallenberg, daughter of Margaret and Martin Miller, was born in Johnson County, Nebraska, July 11, 1878, and passed away at her home in Fairfield, July 27th, 1947 at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 14 days.

She is survived by her husband, William; three sons, Carl of Somerville, Mass, and Bill and George of Fairfield; four daughters, Alvina Shaw, Vera Shunkwiler; Fern Hoyt and Avis Woods, all of Fairfield; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, and one brother; and many other relatives and friends. One daughter, Corrine Potts, and one grand daughter preceded her in death.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was a loving wife and mother, and will be greatly missed in her home and community.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. Fruehling of Glenville at the Methodist Church Monday afternoon. Her grandsons served as pallbearers.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Carl Wallenberg of Somerville, Mass; Carrie Emilie and Edward Wallenberg of Hanover, Kansas; Clarence Wallenberg of Marysville, Kansas; Lizzie and Ida Wallenberg of Kansas City, Kansas; Mary Wallenberg and son, Oscar and August Miller of Lanham, Nebraska; Lillian Koltaske of Odell, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Archer of Hastings; Mrs. Raymond Peterson of Clay Center and Mrs. Ruby Pratt of St. Joseph, Missouri.

Obituary - Wallenberg

William Henry Wallenberg, son of William and Caroline Wallenberg, was born February 5, 1880, in Manitowoc county, Wisconsin and departed this life on March 24, 1960 at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 19 days.

At an early age he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

In 1911 he moved his family to Fairfield where he remained excepting for a few years spent in Deweese. The last year, due to failing health, he lived at the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, one grandson and one great grandson, also his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Those left to mourn his death are four daughters, Mrs. Alvina Shaw, Mrs. Vera Shunkwiler, Mrs. Fern Hoyt, all of Fairfield, and Mrs. Avis Woods of Lincoln; three sons, Carl of Somerville, Mississippi, William and George of Fairfield; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three sisters and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday, March 28 at the Methodist church in Fairfield with Rev. Watters and Rev. Goldbeck officiating. Organ music was played by Mrs. Russell Brodrick. Mrs. Richard Tolliver sang "In the Garden" and "Sunrise" accompanied by Mrs. Brodrick.

Pall bearers were Harold Culin, Ray Stephenson, Ed Albrecht, Frank Watts, John Kerns and Wilbur Fowler. Interment was in the Fairfield cemetery.

Those from our of town attending the funeral were; Carl Wallenberg of Somerville, Massachusetts; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Woods and Glenda of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Shunkwiler of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Murlin Nielson and Donnie of Mankato, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Don McGuiness of Nelson; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mikkelsen of Edgar; Misses Carrie and Emilie Wallenberg, Frank and Joe Wallenberg, all of Hanover, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. August Miller of Lanham; Frank Mahlman and Oscar Wallenberg of Hollenberg, Kansas.
