Funeral Services Here Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Weigel, a pioneer resident of the Hanover community, will be held today, Friday, December 2nd, at 1:30 p. m. at the Sedlacek Funeral Home, and at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, city. Interment will be made in Hanover Cemetery. Mrs. Weigel, who was the widow of the late Jacob Weigel, was born January 19, 1874, and died Tuesday, November 29, at St. Joseph, Missouri. She was 81 years, 10 months and 10 days of age. For the past few years she had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Rudy Pratt at St. Joseph.

Celebrate Their 50th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Weigel, living southeast of Hanover celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at their home, Sunday, March 1, 1942. While preparing the family dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Weigel were surprised when a number of relatives came with well-filled baskets to help them celebrate the occasion. In the afternoon a short program was held consisting of songs, talks and several accordion numbers played by Mr. Weigel. Besides the congratulations of their relatives and friends, Mr. and Mrs. Weigel also received many fine gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Weigel have five living children, four daughters and one son and seven grandchildren. Relatives who gathered at the Weigel home for the celebration Sunday included: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyer and daughter Donna Lee, Mrs. Margaret Scheld, sister of Mr. Weigel, Mrs. Fred Wolff and son Marvin, all of Sterling, Nebraska, also two other sons of Mrs. Wolff, the Rev. Lorin J. Wolff of Diller, Nebraska and Frederick of Fairbury, Mrs. Andrew Weigel and Mrs. Earl Thompson of Douglas, Nebraska, Henry Weigel of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Dammann and daughter Fawn of Washington, Kansas and Mrs. Charles Pratt of St. Joseph, Missouri.

Jacob Weigel Dies At Home Here Saturday
Jacob Weigel a resident of the Hanover community since 1913, died at his home in the city at 9:30 o’clock Saturday morning, May 29th at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 20 days. Death was caused by a heart attack, following an illness of four and a half months. The body was taken to the Champagne Funeral Home and Funeral Services were held at that funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 1st. Rev. William Harder, city retired Lutheran Minster, conducted the services and interment was made in Hanover Cemetery. Jacob Weigel was born April 9, 1870, at Monthausen, Hessen, Germany, and came to the United States settling at Sterling, Nebraska on April 19, 1888. On February 28, 1892 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Miller and the family came to the Hanover community to make their home on March 1, 1912. They lived on a farm near Hanover until January 15, 1943 when Mr. and Mrs. Weigel retired and moved to Hanover where they have since made their home. He was member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving Mr. Weigel are his widow, Mrs. Anna Weigel, City; four daughters, Mrs. L.H. (Minnie) Taft, San Francisco, California, Mrs. Ruby Pratt, St. Joseph, Missouri; Mrs. Albert (Emma) Dammann, Waterville, Kansas; Mrs. Roy (Lillian) Downen, Downs, Kansas; one son, Herbert Weigel, South Gate, California; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Out of town relatives attending the funeral services included Mrs. Anna Wolff, Mrs. Esther Bartles, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyer, Mrs. Edwin Meyer, all of Sterling, Nebraska; Frederick Wolff, Fremont, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. August Miller, Lanham, Nebraska; Mrs. Irene Johannes, Marysville, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Payne and daughter Carle, Denver, Colorado; and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Thoms and son Alan, Linn, Kansas.
