MARIE MARGARET SCHILLER

OBITUARY

Marie Margaret Schiller, daughter of Michael Glock and Eva Margaret nee Schmieg, was born in Nassau, Germany August 19, 1857. Soon after her birth she was consecrated to the Lord in Holy Baptism on April 23, 1871, and was confirmed by Rev. Magenau in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of that place. On the 9th of February in 1886, she was given in marriage to John George Schiller. This union was blessed with four children; Karl, John, Marie and one son who died in infancy. In the fall of 1896, she emigrated to America and settled on the farm four miles north of Logan, Kansas where the family resided until 1924, when they moved in with their son, Karl. In 1933, they moved to Smith County where they resided with their daughter, Mrs. Marie Meyer. Here her husband died March 20, 1934. The years of her widowhood were spent here with her daughter and occasionally with her son, Karl. She always enjoyed good health until several weeks ago when she was stricken with a kidney disease.

During her illness, God’s holy word were her rod and her staff and prayer her strength. She received Holy Communion and prepared to meet her Lord. After blessing her children and grandchildren, she fell asleep in Jesus last Friday afternoon at four o’clock.

She leaves to mourn her death her children, Karl Schiller of Logan, Kansas, Rev. John Schiller of Lohman, Missouri, Mrs. William Meyer of Athol, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Novak and Mrs. Babette Fink of Logan and five grandchildren.

Her age was 80 years, 2 months and 16 days.

We have every reason to hope that she was saved through the blood of the Crucified Savior, Jesus Christ, in whom she put all her trust and attained the rest of the children of God.

Funeral services were conducted in the following manner, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marie Meyer, and in Christ Lutheran Church near Gaylord. In the forenoon, Rev. A.H. Zellinger officiating; in the afternoon the services took place on the cemetery and in the church of her home congregation. Rev. Werner J. Heuer officiating. Interment was made in St. Peter’s Lutheran cemetery of Logan, Kansas.

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to thank the many neighbors and friends for their generous service and sincere expressions of sympathy in our recent bereavement. Mr. ‘T’ Engleman and children.
