NEMAHA COUNTY REVIEW 1938 OBITUARY
Anna Katharina Kaiser, nee Eltiste, was born May 13, 1849 at Burgsalach in Bavaria, Germany. She was a daughter of Christian Eltiste and his wife, Maria Dorothea, nee Risselhuber. In the Lutheran Church of her birthplace, she was baptized, and confirmed and here she grew to womanhood. In 1872, she emigrated with her parents to America, and came to Nebraska City, Nebraska, from where they moved to Johnson, Nemaha County, Nebraska. February 6, 1876, Katharina Eltiste was united in matrimony to Henry Kaiser. This union was blessed with 8 children, 7 sons and 1 daughter. Four sons and 1 daughter have preceded their mother to eternity. The deceased lived with her husband for a time in Missouri, then moved to Osage, Johnson county, Nebraska, and came to Phillipsburg County, Kansas in 1887, the family settling on a farm about one and a half miles east of Stuttgart. Mrs. Kaiser loved her Savoir in whom she trusted. She was a faithful member of Our Emanuel Lutheran church whose services she attended regularly as long as her strength did permit. God had given her robust health. She was an industrious worker and could not sit still even when her strength began to fail. After the death of her husband, January 1905, she lived on the home place with her youngest sons, August and Herman. When her oldest sister, Anna, died in November 1931, she moved in with her sister Christine to keep her company. In March 1937, Mrs. Kaiser became seriously ill. She desired holy communion and prepared for her end. But she rallied once more, yet did not fully recover, she was brought back to her own home, and lived there one more year, receiving loving care from her children. Last week she began to fail rapidly. She departed this life last Monday morning, April 11, at about 10:30 o’clock, having reached the good ripe age of 83 years, 10 months and 28 days. She leaves to mourn her departure 3 sons and their families, Henry, Fred and Herman; 2 daughter-in-laws and their families, Christ Kaiser; 21 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, one brother, August Eltiste and his family; one sister, Miss Christine Eltiste; and many other relatives and friends. Interment was made, Wednesday, April 13, in the cemetery of Emanuel Lutheran church of Stuttgart. May she rest in peace.
