OBITUARY – HENRY KAISER

Henry Christian Kaiser, first child of Henry and Katherine Kaiser, was born near Watson, Missouri, November 15, 1876. When he was a year old, his parents moved to Osage, Nebraska. From there they moved in 1886 to Phillips County on a farm two and half miles east of Stuttgart.

He attended a school east of Stuttgart and later received religious instruction. Pastor J. F. Dilges confirmed him in the Lutheran faith on March 30, 1890

Moving later to own farm, he was united in marriage on June 9, 1909, to Miss Sophia Eltiste of Johnson, Nebraska. To this union were born 6 children, all of whom are still living.

Mr. Kaiser was a farmer and stockman and was active in his work until the last three years of his life.  He was afflicted with diabetes and passed away February 18, 1950, at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 3 days.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Sophia Kaiser; his two daughters, Mrs.

Sophia Hazen and Mrs. Wilma Look, both of Stockton, Kansas; four sons, William, Henry, Paul and Gus Kaiser; two brothers, Fred and Herman of Phillipsburg; four grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted February 21, 1950, at Emmanuel Lutheran church at Stuttgart with Reverend Herbert J. Schauer officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery of the Emmanuel Lutheran church.

Henry Christian Kaiser was born November 15, 1876, in Watson, Missouri. He was the son of Henry and Katharine (Eltiste) Kaiser and the grandson of Christian and Dorthea (Risselhuber) Eltiste. His parents immigrated to the United States from Germany. He came to Phillips County in 1887.

Henry C. Kaiser married Sophia Eltiste, daughter of Paul and Maria Barbara (Stadtler) Eltiste, on June 9, 1909, in Iowa. She was born April 17, 1882, in Johnson, Nebraska

The family was Lutheran church members.

Mr. Kaiser died February 19, 1950, at Phillipsburg. He was buried at Stuttgart. His widow survives.

Children of Henry and Sophia Kaiser were all born in Phillipsburg. William was

born April 19, 1910. On January 28, 1952, he married Eveline Torbeck, daughter of Fred W. and Kathrena (Nordbrock) Torbeck, at Auburn, Nebraska.

Henry, born April 30, 1913, married in California to Edna Jones, daughter of Harrison and Ruby (Achen) Jones.

Sophia was born January 5, 1916. She became Mrs. Clarence Hazen on October 1, 1945, at Stockton, Kansas. He was the son of Clarence and Marie (Sterling) Hazen.

Paul, born April 2, 1917, married on December 14, 1952, at Attica, Kansas. His wife is Wava Grigsby, daughter of Walter and Ida Bel (Reed) Grigsby.

Gus was born March 3, 1919. He married Evelyn Shick, daughter of Carl and Martha (Fischi) Shick, on August 23, 1947, Phillipsburg.

Wilhelmina was born July 16, 1922. On April 12, 1946, at Stockton, she married Lawrence Look, son of Hiram and Cloie (Jacobs) Look.
